model mumber on carburator

Beitrag von Gast »

hi.

how do I find out what kind of caburator is on my bike?
my problem is that I think the old zxr750 carburator is still on the bike. and that when the zx9 engine was put in they did not change the carburator.

and now I checked the bike and it only makes 116 hp.
so maybe I need to get a zx9 carburator. but need to check that it is a zxr750 carburator that is still on my bike.

there should be a number somewhere indicating what carburator it is. but I cant find it??

best regards Esben

Sure, u can measure it.
the ZX9 carbs have a 42mm diameter.
the old zxr carbs are smaller...39 i think.
116hp sounds not even much, but 116 on wheel are not that bad.
the zx9 makes 143hp on clutch with ram air.
on wheel it will make around 135 with ram air.
without ram air around 130 i think.
These are values for a new machine with optimal settings.
Do u have the ZX9 black box?
Ok ok, measure your carbs, and then we will see.

you don't need the zx9-carbs! my bike was clocked on a dyno at 143 hp with 38mm-carbs (j-type) mounted! did you install new spark plugs? that worked wonders on my zx9-engine... ;)

which main jets are installed? which zxr do you have?

yes I found out that it was the 750 carburators that was on the bike.

the spark plugs is brand new.
I had a co2 instrument on it. and it gets the right amount of fuel.

does enyone have some idea why it only makes 116 hp.
do I need the 40mm carbs?

what else do I need to check???
